The Wellness Puzzle Podcast

Actually living the dream

Episode Summary

In episode 103, I speak former lawyer, now optimization coach and Kundalini Yoga teacher, Kara Bitar. Kara was practising high-stakes corporate litigation at one of the largest law firms in the Southeast of the USA when she realized that, despite having what is deemed a high level of success, she was unhappy, stressed out, worn out, unhealthy and lacking in a love and excitement for life. Whilst many of her colleagues were joking about 'living the dream', Kara actually wanted to live the dream in her life and so went on a life changing journey. After choosing to leave law, she spent 18 months on a healing journey only to find herself in an even darker place. That is, until she discovered Kundalini Yoga, then everything changed for her. She is now living her dream and helping others do the same. This is a podcast not to be missed.

Episode Notes

Kara Bitar had what would most would believe was the perfect life. She had a great job as a lawyer, worked on complex cases involving interesting legal issues, was appreciated and supported by her colleagues, was able to do a significant amount of pro bono work for victims of domestic violence and was eventually named leader of the firm’s pro bono domestic violence program. She made a lot of money, had a charming home in a beautiful city, had two cute little dogs and a loving husband.

Even though on the outside Kara looked successful, she was unhappy.  She was not sure why she  was unhappy. Given everything she had, she thought she should be happy. But she felt like my life primarily consisted of expending all of her energy at work, pushing her body and mind to their limits, coming home at night, eating dinner in a daze, collapsing into bed and then doing it all over again.  She  felt tired most of the time, her body ached, she had a number of health issues and her relationships felt superficial.  She  was also plagued by self-critical and fearful thoughts, nothing she did was ever good enough for her, no amount of success was enough.

After six years of law, she decided to leave and find healing, joy and her dream life. She tried everything and committed a full time approach for 18 months to find answers, only to find herself in a deeper and darker place than before she left law. Now questioning her decision to leave her profession, she decided to try one more thing, Kundalini Yoga. It was in that moment, she found something that actually helped her, and started her off on an exciting journey.

Kara now combines the dedication and commitment that it took to become a successful attorney, real-life training in what it takes to succeed at high-levels, and extensive research, experience and training in how to optimize our lives, to help individuals excel in their professional and creative endeavours, be energized and excited about life, and experience their full potential. She does this through Optimization Programs she developed, Coaching and teaching Kundalini Yoga.  Kara is a KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga, Reiki Master, Certified ThetaHealing® Practitioner and Certified SoulRealignment® Practitioner. She is dedicated to help people actually live the dream! Trust me when I say this is a conversation not to be missed.
