In Episode 79, I talk with outdoor-enthusiast, nature-lover and adventure-junkie, Yair Kellner. For more than 60 years Yair has been climbing, hiking, paddling, dog-sledding and bike-packing around the world in some of the most extreme conditions you can imagine. From Everest to Alaska, he found himself fighting to survive after falling through the ice, with his 80kg fully laden bike. How got out alive is a story you do not want to miss. I was on the edge of my seat for much of this conversation, and I know you will learn, you will be inspired and you will be amazed by this incredible man Enjoy my conversation with Yair Kellner.
The very last thing Yair Kellner said after this captivating conversation, and talking about more than 60 years of adventure, outdoors, camping, hiking, paddle-boarding, canoeing, climbing and bike-packing was this; It's never too late to have a happy childhood. Now in his mid-sixties, Yair is still loving his childhood, and all the adventures that go with it.
From the age of five he has had a passion for the great outdoors, the beauty of nature, and learning to adapt in environments much different to the one most of us are used to. The lessons he has picked up along the way are not just about how to survive when you fall through the ice in 30-50 degree below temperatures with an 80kg fully-laden bike. He has learned about perspective, humility, peace, mindfulness, determination and understanding the rules that each situation requires.
How he survived in Alaska, when all the odds were stacked against him, is a story you don't want to miss. I mean, when taking all your clothes off after getting out of the below zero river to avoid them encasing you in the 30 degree below outside air is your best option for survival, you know things are bad. This is a man with calm courage, life experience, amazing wisdom and powerful stories. This is a wonderful conversation you will want to enjoy.
