In episode 366, I speak with entertainer, author, philanthropist, and charity founder, Peter Nicholls. 'Change the One' is the simple vision of Peter that came about when inspecting the devastation of a Tsunami in Papua New Guinea back in 1997. Then from jeweller, to entertainer, to finance broker, he is now impacting the world, one act of kindness at a time. Peter recalls that first encounter: “As I stood on top of the rubble, trees, rocks and silt, 3 stories high that had been cleared off the road and stretched as far as the eye could see, I looked to the heavens in utter frustration and helplessness, cursed for the little I could do, the task was insurmountable. The current focus is in Vietnam and the Philippines, to provide ongoing relief, care, and assistance to people and communities in remote and underprivileged areas, addressing shortages of consumables, fresh drinking water, food supplies, school facilities, education and supporting self-sustainability. This is an inspiring podcast, not to be missed.
What if changing the world started with changing just one life?
In this inspiring episode, I speak with entertainer, author, philanthropist, and charity founder Peter Nicholls, a man whose extraordinary journey has taken him from jeweller, to entertainer, to finance broker—and ultimately to becoming a force for compassion and hope across some of the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Peter shares the powerful moment that changed everything.
In 1997, while witnessing the devastation caused by a tsunami in Papua New Guinea, he stood on top of mountains of rubble, overwhelmed by the destruction and the seeming impossibility of helping. It was in that moment of helplessness that a simple but life-changing idea was born: you may not be able to change the world, but you can change one.
That philosophy became “Change the One”—Peter’s mission to impact lives through practical support, kindness, and sustainable change.
Today, Peter and his team are creating meaningful impact in Vietnam and the Philippines, providing ongoing relief, care, education, clean drinking water, food supplies, school facilities, and pathways toward self-sustainability for remote and underprivileged communities.
Peter also shares the heart behind his beautifully inspiring children’s book, CC the Caring Cow, which follows CC the Caring Cow on a heartfelt journey to spread kindness alongside her loyal best friend, Bizz the Bee. Through warmth, friendship, and compassion, the story gently teaches children—and adults alike—that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. It beautifully reflects the values Peter lives by and the message at the centre of his life’s work.
Peter recalls that defining moment:
“As I stood on top of the rubble, trees, rocks and silt, three stories high that had been cleared off the road and stretched as far as the eye could see, I looked to the heavens in utter frustration and helplessness, cursed for the little I could do—the task was insurmountable.”
This conversation is a powerful reminder that even the smallest act of kindness can ripple outward and transform lives.
