The Wellness Puzzle Podcast

Run for wishes

Episode Summary

In episode 102, get ready to be inspired as I speak with ultra marathon runner, motivational speaker, entrepreneur and philanthropist Sean Bell. With a passion for running and the tragedy of losing his best mate at the age of 18 years old, Sean made the declaration that he would run around Australia in a 'Jog for Joey' to raise money for a great cause. Well, he hasn't done that yet, but he most certainly has run 50 marathons in 50 days and is now planning to run from Cairns, Queensland to Melbourne, Victoria with a vision of raising $60,000 for the Make a Wisha Foundation. SEan is not only running over 3600km toraise money, but also to inspire people to chase their dreams and run for their wishes. This is a powerful, paradigm-shifting and inspiring conversation not to be missed.

Episode Notes

As a young man, Sean Bell had the Aussie dream of making at the highest level in Australian Rusle Football. He also had a passion for running as a way to re-connect with himself when things got tough. Well, things certainly got tough when his best mate died at a young age, and so he decided to give up football and focus on his running. After struggling to get through his first Melbourne Marathon with the help of a 'Zooper Dooper', he decided he was going to make running his thing and use it to help other people.

He made the decision that he was going to run 50 marathons in 50 days to honor his friend Joey and make a difference. On February 21, 2019, at the age of 21 years old, Sean completed this mammoth task. Now he is in the process of preparing himself, as of April 11, 2022, to run from Cairns to Melbourne with a vision of 60 in 60 for 60. In other words, he will average 60kms per day for 60 days to raise $60k for the Make a Wish Foundation. He calls it Run for Wishes.

Sean is an inspiring example of what is possible with a real reason, meaningful motivation, proper preparation and just one step at a time. His message is to chase your dreams, believe in your capacity and get out there and run for your wishes. Trust me when I say this is a conversation not to be missed.
