In episode 281, I speak with artist, musician, philosopher and life-long learner, Jonah Primo. Jonah has spent the Last 6 Years working with the world's wisest and most profound people. From neuroscientists including Sam Harris, to Oscar winners, to Buddhist Gurus, including Jayasāra. He has packaged up their secrets to success, happiness, and fulfilment and wants to share them with the world. In this fabulous conversation, we discuss many things including how to simplify life, and how to find joy, meaning, and calm in the chaos. Jonah will help you find your philosophy. This is a wonderful convertsation, not to be missed.
Jonah Primo's addiction to storytelling has taken him to strange and wonderful places - Jonah has had the opportunity interview hermetic gurus and podcast with A-list celebrities, he has scored music for leading brands and sold art NFTs to the likes of John Ledgend.
Jonah was the host of Work In Progress, a show for Sam Harris’ meditation app, Waking Up, gaining over a million downloads in its first year. Additionally, through his company STUDIOPRIMO, he produces Principle of Charity, Australia’s #1 philosophy podcast featuring guests such as Tim Minchin, Jane Campion, Robert Plomin, Andrew Denton, Jonathan Rauch, Jayasāra, and many more wonderful minds.
Jonah has spent the last 8 years studying mindfulness, meditation and philosophy in order to build frameworks for the practical application of spiritual and psychological techniques. These frameworks have changed his life, allowing him to cure himself of chronic daily migraine without medication, as well as the lives of many listeners. He shares these secrets on his personal podcast, The Overexamined Life.
Jonah began his career as a musician, studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he learned contemporary arranging under some of Australia’s best composers and topped the music theory courses. In addition to his BA in Music & Philosophy, Jonah holds a BCom in Finance & Statistics from the University of Sydney, which has instilled an uncompromising diligence and attention to detail. An advanced mathematical foundation has proved invaluable in sound engineering and complex scoring, and helped Jonah take an empirical scientific approach to his work in mindfulness.
When we can land on our own philosophy, life become much easier, and more joyous and meaningful. Don't miss this conversation.
